01Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Monster Entertainment (“Rumble,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use the Rumble mobile application, our website at www.rumble.so, and related services (together, the “Service”).
Rumble is a real-world treasure-hunt game. Players discover location-based “drops,” travel to them, and claim prizes — including cash prizes paid out to mobile money. Because the Service is location- and reward-based, we collect certain information needed to make it work, keep it fair, and pay out prizes securely.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
02Information We Collect
Information you provide to us.
- Account and identity information — your first and last name, mobile phone number (used to create and sign in to your account via a one-time verification code), and email address.
- Profile information — optional details you choose to add, such as a nickname, profile photo, gender, and date of birth.
- Prize payout details — the mobile money number and network provider you provide when you redeem a cash prize.
- Referral information — the referral code you share or apply when inviting friends or joining through an invite.
- Communications — information you provide when you contact us for support or otherwise correspond with us.
Information collected automatically.
- Location information — with your permission, we collect your device’s precise location while you use the app to show nearby drops, measure how far you are from a drop, verify check-ins, and guide you to prizes during a hunt.
- Gameplay information — your activity in the Service, such as drops you register for and check in to, prizes claimed, access products purchased, daily free entries, streaks, and ranking.
- Device and technical information — device model, operating system and version, app version, language settings, and unique device or installation identifiers.
- Diagnostic and crash data — logs, performance data, and crash reports that help us keep the app stable and secure.
- Push notification tokens — identifiers that let us deliver notifications about drops, prizes, and account activity to your device.
03Device Permissions
The app requests the following permissions. Where required, we ask for your consent, and you can change these permissions at any time in your device settings. Some features will not work if a permission is declined.
- Location — to show nearby drops, verify check-ins, and navigate you to a prize during a hunt.
- Camera — to scan the code on a prize you have found so you can claim it.
- NFC — to read prize tags so you can claim an item you have found.
- Notifications — to alert you about upcoming and live drops, prize wins, and important account updates.
04How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and verify your identity;
- Operate the core game experience, including showing drops, verifying check-ins, and running hunts;
- Process access purchases and pay out prizes securely;
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, cheating, abuse, and other prohibited activity, and keep the game fair;
- Send you transactional and gameplay notifications, and (where permitted) updates about Rumble;
- Operate the referral program and calculate referral rewards;
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the performance, reliability, and features of the Service; and
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We rely on a combination of legal bases to process your information, including performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), your consent (for example, location and notifications), our legitimate interests (such as security and product improvement), and compliance with legal obligations.
05Payments & Prize Payouts
Rumble is a game, not a wallet or deposit-taking service. We do not allow you to deposit or store money in the app for general use. We collect payment only when you purchase an access product, and we pay you when you win an eligible cash prize.
Payments and mobile money payouts are handled by regulated third-party payment providers. When you make a purchase or redeem a cash prize, the payment provider processes your transaction and the mobile money details you supply. We receive confirmation and transaction references needed to complete and reconcile the payment, but we do not store full payment credentials ourselves.
07Third-Party Services
We use trusted third parties to provide parts of the Service. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase (authentication, database, cloud messaging, crash reporting) — Firebase Privacy.
- Google Maps (maps and location display) — Google Privacy Policy.
- Expo (app delivery, updates, and push notifications) — Expo Privacy Policy.
- Sentry (error and performance monitoring) — Sentry Privacy Policy.
- Hubtel (payments and mobile money payouts) — Hubtel Privacy Policy.
- Paystack (payments and payouts) — Paystack Terms & Privacy.
08Data Retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. We may retain certain information for longer where necessary to comply with legal, tax, accounting, or regulatory obligations (for example, records of prize payouts and transactions), to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
09Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your device and account credentials safe, and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.
10Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, update, or delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can:
- Update your profile information directly in the app;
- Manage location, camera, and notification permissions in your device settings;
- Request access to or deletion of your information by contacting us at privacy@rumble.so.
We will respond to your request as required by applicable law. If you are in Ghana, you may also have rights under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission.
11Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by emailing privacy@rumble.so from the phone number or email associated with your account. Once verified, we will delete or anonymize your information, except where we are required or permitted by law to retain it (for example, financial records of completed prize payouts).
12Children
The Service is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
13International Transfers
We and our service providers may process and store your information in countries other than your own, including where our cloud infrastructure providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. Where required, we take steps to ensure your information receives an appropriate level of protection when it is transferred internationally.
14Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the app or by other means. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
15Neighbourhoods and invitations
We store area preferences, memberships, waitlist history and invitation attribution to manage access. Account deletion requests cover these records as well. Unused invitations are cancelled when an account is deleted or disabled. Necessary financial and security audit records are retained under our retention policy.
